well depending on how old the line it is it might bunch up when relased, but i just had this same problem with my bass rod and brand new line becuse i was using a heaver line than my pole sagested, look on your reel and look for what pound test to use, if your line is heaver than what it asks then put on less than you normaly would so it dosent all jump out and get knoted up, some line boxes will say home much line to put on your reel.
i just looked on cabelas website and found my reel and it rates how much line you should put in the reel, but the heaver the reel the heaver and more line your ganna use, if your reel isnt rated for the line you have i would either get lighter line, use less heaver line or get a larger reel for my rod.
when i cast my open reel rod, all of the line bunches up, why is that?
